Founded in 1984 as a manufacturer of fishing and shooting bags by a local businessman, John Chapman, who still lives close to their Carlisle workshops. Mr Chapman created a thriving business selling British made bags all over the world.
Chapman Bags has been established for many years in Cumbria, England. The natural beauty of the surrounding Lake District and Borders has provided much of the inspiration for their canvas, leather and tweed bags. A number of their bags are named after local places and pastimes.
Originally a manufacturer of fishing and shooting bags, John Chapman now makes hand crafted canvas, leather and tweed bags for travel, leisure, business and sporting activities. They make all their bags in their Tannery Road factory in Carlisle, Cumbria, part of an old industrial site dating back over 300 years. Chapman Bags like to use high quality natural materials of British origin wherever possible.
