The winning model in question was the F-PACE, Jaguar’s first performance SUV and the fastest selling global model. In the 13 years of the World Car Awards, the Jaguar F-Pace is only the second to win both awards at the same show. Cruising to victory, the Jaguar F-PACE surpassed its contenders and met the approval of 75 of the most influential motoring journalists from 24 countries.
Since its unveiling in April 2016, the Jaguar F-PACE has found itself on the receiving end of a number of prestigious honours, including Women’s World Car of the Year, Auto Express’ Car of the Year and the Best Premium Car by Telegraph Cars – in total, over 40 awards in approximately a year, which is undeniably an astounding feat for the British luxury brand.

The 2017 World Car Awards is the first success for Jaguar; with the XE Sports Saloon being a finalist at last year’s awards in the Design of the Year category. To claim the victory at this year’s ceremony, the F-PACE triumphed over the Audi Q5 and the Volkswagen Tiguan.
Director of Design at Jaguar, Ian Callum, added “The F-PACE is our first ever SUV but it is clearly recognisable as a Jaguar and for it to win the 2017 World Car of the Year trophy vindicates our decision to bring our unique design principles and dynamic qualities to a new sector of the market.”
The World Car Awards panel consists of influential motoring journalists from all over the world. To be awarded the victor, the Jaguar F-PACE saw off the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Cabriolet and Toyota C-HR as the competition came down to the final three.
Speaking about Jaguar’s sensational victory, Juror, Director and Vice-Chairman of the World Car Awards, Mike Rutherford commented “Jaguar has done the unthinkable by first securing the World Car Design of the Year award, then lifting the big one - the overall World Car of the Year trophy. With F-PACE, the British company and its proud and talented workers have taken on and beaten far bigger, wealthier European, Asian and North American rivals."
This victory has attracted a multitude of new customers to Jaguar. In approximately a year, the Jaguar F-PACE has become the most searched Jaguar in the UK, racking up a grand total of 4.4 million page views of content related to F-PACE content. A quintessentially British brand through and through, the Jaguar F-PACE is designed, developed and built in the brand’s Solihull headquarters. £120m was invested into the Solihull branch, which was part of a £2bn investment in the plant. The branch was also rewarded £5bn of UK supplier contracts to boost the branch’s production.
Customers purchasing the Jaguar F-PACE are able to choose from a four-cylinder 2.0 litre Ingenium diesel with CO2 emissions, which has CO2 emissions as low as 126g/km to the high performance 380PS supercharged V6 petrol model, which can accelerate from 0-100km/h in just 5.5 seconds.
The Jaguar F-PACE is available from all Jaguar UK Retailers at a price of £34,730.
