Based in the Cotswold, Ross & Ross specialise in catering for events, weddings and handmade British food gifts – but who exactly ARE Ross & Ross?
Sharing both a name and a passion for culinary delights, founders and directors Ross Bearman and Ross Whitmill have worked in the fine food industry for 15 years, having blessed plates with their delicious delights across Le Petit Blanc, Malmaison, Paxton and Whitfield and Peach Pub Company to name a few. The two Ross’ met when opening gastro style (which is high quality food that goes above and beyond the expectations of what you might eat down your local pub) Peach Pubs, a brand which describes itself as ‘not a chain; it’s a group of like-minded enthusiasts’, aiming for ‘perfection on a small scale.’
The two realised their connection through an appreciation the finer flavours in life and a love of the Cotswolds and British charcuterie, so together, they set up their business in July 2011. Ross and Ross spent three years producing their award winning paté and terrines for a vast number of clients across the board, ranging from Harrods to small independent delis, before honing their craft to focus on weddings and event catering in January 2015, as well as on their ‘Great British foodie’ gift boxes. Several months later, the Man Box collection was expanded, now including a cider variety. The brand also launched ‘The Homemade Curing Kit… Bacon’, which they described going down as ‘a storm with bacon lovers across the Kingdom.’
Alternatively, Ross & Ross also produce a range of mouth-watering taste sensation street food, with the 10 Hour Slow Cooked Cotswold Lamb with Salsa Verde being a particular favourite amongst loyal customers. Throughout Spring and Summer, Ross & Ross love nothing more than taking their kitchen on the road, visiting the best food festivals and events that Britain has to offer, ‘spreading lamb love’ wherever they may roam.
Over the course of their five year career, Ross & Ross have already gathered a plethora of awards under their belt, like tapas of triumph. Their appetizer of acclaim came in the form of the Great Taste Awards Gold Star Winner in 2012, before nibbling their way through a buffet laced with finalists in the Best Food Producer at The Cotswold Life Food and Drink 2013, the Best New Business West Oxfordshire Business Awards 2014 and the Best Local Food Producer at the Cotswold Life Food & Drink Awards 2015. This was topped by a dessert of victories, including the Midlands Best Street Food for BBC Good Food Show 2013, the BBC Good Food Show Bursary Award 2013, the Best Micro Business West Oxfordshire Business Awards 2014 and most recently, Ross & Ross won the Best Food Product at the Cotswold Life Food & Drink Awards 2015 for their Homemade Curing Kit… Bacon.
Emobdying the very ideology of the ‘artisan’, in their vast range of products, Ross & Ross utilize only the finest homegrowers and producers, using as many of Cotswold’s finest suppliers as supply and demand will allow. Ross & Ross source their meat from Trev Beadle in Chipping Norton, a traditional family butcher in Chipping Norton, while game is taken from Adlestrop Game. Vegetables, fruits and herbs are taken from Drinkwater Farm in Ebrington, while bread is baked fresh at Boulangerie Valentin in Blackwell. The list of artisan food brands Ross & Ross source their ingredients from really is endless, but it’s a clear indication of the brand’s love of where they’re from, and their pride to be British.
