Over the course of 2016, Cheshire-based kiln formed glass brand, The Silver Zebra, headed by one of the world’s leading artists, Deborah Moses, has risen from success to success, drawing the year to a close on a high.
Throughout the year, Deborah has truly put Cheshire on the map. In September, the prestigious Tour of Britain passed through the rural county in its third stage. In celebration of this momentous occasion, Deborah designed a breath-taking spectacle in the form of a tangerine tower, consisting of 25 orange bicycles, incorporated with images of Cheshire, its various landmarks and a Cheshire-related treasure map for attendees to explore. This was accompanied by a quartet of the bicycle sculptures, sat undeniably eye-catchingly on the Middlewich roundabout.
The trophy, awarded to 29-year-old winner Ian Stannard, from Chelmsford, Essex, was also created by Deborah Moses, after being designed by 10-year-old Charlotte Ward, a pupil of Astbury St Mary’s Church of England School.
In addition to this, The Silver Zebra has become a resident at Bang & Olufsen of Wilmslow, launching the mind-boggling collection, “Geos & Constellations” in April, which has been on display in its own showroom throughout the year, warmly inviting the public inside to appreciate the Cheshire native’s flawless talent. “Geos & Constellations” combines geometric aspects with a twist of astrology and intriguing surface textures, developed into architectural pieces and 3D forms, very different from anything Deborah had created before, constantly pushing the boundaries of what is possible and of her own ability. Commission orders are now full for 2016, however the “Vessels” sculpture and wall panels are still available exclusively from Bang & Olufsen of Wilmslow.
To give someone you love the gift of glass this Christmas, why not treat them to a voucher to Deborah’s intimate workshop experience in a slot of their choice in 2017? The value of these vouchers is entirely down to the customer, and is accompanied by a complementary glass hanging bar. Materials, a farmhouse lunch and refreshments are provided throughout the day, and the lucky recipient can take their glass artwork home to cherish for a lifetime.
