Throughout its illustrious career, The Royal Yacht Britannia has maintained a profile as one of the most iconic ships to ever grace the seas. It’s played host to a vast array of A-listers and globally respected names, including President Nelson Mandela and the endlessly acclaimed Frank Sinatra.
Today, The Royal Yacht Britannia invite guests to follow in footsteps of these notibles, where they can host their own drinks reception for up to 450 friends aboard Edinburgh’s most exclusive and elegant five star venue.
Opulent magic radiates from this luxurious evening events venue, embracing guests from the minute they receive their exclusive personalised invitation, all the way through to the moment the soles of their shoes kiss the red carpet, as it’s rolled out before them upon arrival. Warmly invited on board via the Royal Brow by Britannia’s piper, guests are instantly enveloped in a traditional Scottish atmosphere, before being led into the State Drawing Room, where music beautifully transitions from pipe to key. Here, a sophisticated melody emanates from the original grand piano, setting the tone for an unforgettable evening.
Britannia’s butlers are on hand to serve guests’ every need, offering a platter of the finest wines and champagnes, each specially chosen by the Britannia’s own personal Sommelier, accompanied by a pallet of exquisite canapés created by a team of incredibly talented chefs in the original Royal Gallery, utilising only the finest, most authentic Scottish ingredients.
This is followed by an exclusive tour of the ship, led by a personal and well versed guide, sharing fascinating stories and insights into the lives of the crew and Royal family when aboard. For an exquisite evening’s festivities, a vast array of entertainment is available. These include a harp and flute duo serenading guests with elegant background music, or for a little more lively atmosphere, a jazz trio, consisting of guitar, clarinet/saxophone and double bass create a sophisticated backdrop that’s sure to be music to everyone’s ears.
When entertaining guests onboard the Britannia, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II often favoured a Beat Retreat Display, who would perform on the quayside for guests, a lovely and undeniably memorable close to the evening, which can also be organised for guests to this day. To add an extra tipple to your evening, guests can soak in the ambient atmosphere present onboard the historic vessel while enjoying a trio of different drams from distilleries across Scotland, featuring a plethora of ages and finishes. All the while, a whisky expert discusses flavour profiles, and the five steps to appreciating Scotch whisky.
The spacious State apartments onboard Britannia cater for up to 250 guests; however if numbers surpass this, up to 450 people can be entertained with the combination of the Royal Deck.
